Reflections on art and tech via Ray Weitzenberg
*Once I was hanging out with Stefan Sagmeister, for no particular reason, at some design conference in some minor European country that neither of us knew *And he’s like “I’ve got to buy some gloves,” and I’m like “okay, swell” —@bruces.bsky.social

Gossamer 01
Rifling through my bag, the only thing I found was a hairnet that was holding some other photo gear. This seamed like a stretch, but at that point I didn’t have anything to loose.
And thus Gossamer was born.

Portable in SoHo
straight shot. no editing besides adding the frame.
i quite like the vulnerability Portable is showing on this track — click for audio. there is, however a bit of discomfort with my slight vulnerability in pairing it here with my shot. truth be told, i was mostly interested in the tempo, tone and timbre of the instrumentation and Portable’s voice rather than the lyrical content
Visions of the Eclipse from Texas to Maine via The New Yorker’s The Daily
While the eclipse is quite literally something that’s impossible to put into words, I thought I thought these bits from The New Yorker offered something refreshing.
NoHo Wobbling w Runway
The video after the jump basically mirrors my interface with reality back in the partying days. After coming across it on my hard drive I decided to use it as a source for Runway’s Gen-1.
Boo Lean v Tyler Pope v Kuduro
Notes on my discovering kuduro music through rapid fire exposure: a party at Elsewhere, a block party several days later and with Tyler Pope’s help. It’s interesting to learn about its African roots but the struggle to find authentic African representation online, highlights a digital divide. After the jump, Tyler’s EP and Boo Lean’s Nowadays set. (👈 pic to the left has no real relation to the post)

Sing It Back (Herbert’s Tasteful Dub)
Terribly played out almost immediately after it appeared, Moloko’s song, “Sing It Back”, was massive that summer of ’99.
But it was the unique context of my first hearing it that sticks with me.
FortGreene TimeLapsing
I’ve been wanting to do it for years, but the autumn colors hitting this season lit the fire that got me building out the raspi time lapse project I’d hidden from. Essentially I’m placing a Raspberry Pi + camera module in my window which faces west. Couple things about that view: there’s a Ginkgo tree […]

Next.js v WordPress
I started blogging on mechaneyes.com somewhere around 2004. It was super fun and rewarding … So wanting to reboot that habit, I’ve setup WinterWerk.
